Admission and Reader Account Activation

To use some services of PUT Library (e.g. loaning, “order a copy” service) it is necessary to apply for admission to the Library and have active reader account.

All categories of readers are eligible for admission – both PUT staff and students and non-PUT readers.

Readers can apply for admission at the Circulation Desk throughout a year,

in hours:

  • Mon - Fri  9.00 - 19.30
  • Sat  9.00 - 13.30

Admission

Applicants for admission to PUT library are required to

  1. present the following documents:
    1. PUT employees
      • ID card and valid employee's card
    2. PUT PhD students
      • ID card and valid PhD student's card
    3. PUT undergraduate and graduate students
      • ID card and valid student's card
    4. PUT foreign students
      • passport or ID card and student's card issued by University
    5. PUT pensioners
      • ID card and the confirmation issued by an organizational unit competent in personal matters
    6. undergraduate and graduate students, PhD students and employees of higher schools who are members of Poznan Foundation of Scientific Libraries
      • ID card, the reader's card issued by the user's own university and a valid identity card
    7. undergraduate and graduate students, PhD students and employees of other higher schools of the city of Poznan and Wielkopolska Region if the schools in question have entered into an agreement with the University
      • ID card and an appropriate valid official identity card
    8. readers signed up in the Library of Poznan Society of Friends of Learning and the Raczynski Library as well as research workers and participants of PhD studies of scientific units of the city of Poznan and Wielkopolska Region
      • ID card and an appropriate valid official identity card
    9. other readers – ID card
  2. complete an application form (available at the Circulation Desk),
  3. pay a reader account activation fee.

Reader Account

A reader account is created by the Library system for every person admitted to PUT Library .

Reader account contains information about borrowed items and used services and allows its users to borrow and return materials.

Reader Card

Reader Card is a document proving admission to PUT Library.

Instead of reader card readers may use:

  • PUT students – electronic student identity card updated by PUT Library system
  • reader cards issued by Higher Education Institutions – members of Poznan Science Libraries Foundation or by Poznan Society of Friends of Science Library and Raczynski Library

Other readers and PUT students who do not hold a valid electronic student identity card may be granted a PUT Library Reader Card.

Reader Account Activation

Readers who have been admitted to the Library do not need to take any action to activate their reader account as it is active from the day of admission to 31st October of the next academic year (an academic year begins on 1st October and ends on 30th September).

Reader Account has to be renewed each time for the following academic year if the reader wants to use the abovementioned services provided by the Library. Readers can apply for account renewal at the Circulation Desk after 1st June. Reader Account is active from the day of renewal to 31st October of the next academic year.

Current and retired members of PUT staff are not required to activate or renew their Reader Account.

To renew Reader Account a reader will need to:

  • produce a valid student/PhD student/member of staff identification card
  • pay a fee

Reader Accounts that have not been active for 2 consecutive years are deleted.
